The Ministry of Tourism and Culture has declared Well Cataloged for its cultural relevance the Aqueduct of Alamillo or Pilar Viejo de Librilla.
The definitive resolution is published today in the Official Bulletin of the Region of Murcia (BORM).
The aqueduct is located next to the place known as Pilar Viejo, in the El Alamillo area.
The infrastructure conserves a length of 90 meters with slope and drainage towards the ravine of Librilla.
In addition to the aqueduct, in the area there is still a memory of the existence of a mill linked to the ditch that carries the waters of the inheritance of La Hila and Fuente Librilla.
The General Director of Cultural Assets, Juan Antonio Lorca, explained that "with this new resolution we continue working from the regional government to protect and conserve in the best possible way the rich cultural heritage that we can enjoy in our municipalities, some places and constructions that , as in the case of the Aqueduct of Alamillo, they have relevant values due to their typology, their chronology and their history ".
The characteristics of the new good correspond to the Islamic medieval period, although no specific materials have been detected that confirm its dating.
It is a work of tapial of earth rich in lime and with abundant stone that is only partially conserved, recognizing a base of great width that in the high part would be articulated with two walls that would leave between them the drainage channel.
