| The General Director of Water, Sebastián Delgado, highlights the investments made in the town in the modernization of irrigation systems | The Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and the Environment is carrying out works to install a new rainwater collector in Librilla, for an amount of 19,000 euros.
The general director of Water, Sebastián Delgado, visited the area today and pointed out that the objective of this action is "to avoid the reservoirs that occur due to the reduction of section, with respect to the one that has the upstream pipe, and of the changes abrupt meaning in its layout ". To improve the hydraulic conditions of this section, an 800 mm diameter PVC collector has been installed, which replaces the previous one, which had a diameter of 500 mm and had problems and which coincides with the diameter of the section located upstream.
In this way, the water evacuation capacity is expanded and the two pre-existing direction changes are eliminated to make it coincide with the natural direction of water evacuation. The new section connects with the main collector, which runs along Calle Maestro Espada, for which a junction box with a non-return valve has been built, which will prevent, in the event that the water line of the main collector exceeds the generating line of the rush, receding water. Delgado pointed out that on many occasions "small actions are those that solve the problems of the population, as happened here with the water reservoirs when there were rains of a certain intensity.
It was a neighborhood demand that the City Council transferred to us and that we have attended." Irrigation modernization The director pointed out that "we also attend to other issues of our competence in this municipal area, of greater economic and social significance, such as investments in the modernization of irrigation." In this regard, he recalled that this year the works in sector 2 have been completed, with a budget of more than 8 million euros, co-financed by the European Fund for Rural Development, the Autonomous Community (3.9 million) and the Ministry of Agriculture, "that benefit 900 community members and cover an irrigated area of ??880 hectares, mainly destined to the cultivation of lemon." "An action aimed at reducing water losses; the implementation of drip irrigation, more efficient; the implementation of an irrigation automation system, and the use of renewable energies, to which we must add that which is underway , for an amount of 8.2 million, in sector 3, always with the purpose of favoring the rational use of water resources, "he explained.
