The Governing Council has authorized the recruitment and project spending for performances IV sector modernization of the irrigation area of ​​the Tajo-Segura Librilla.
This action will have an investment of 7.9 million euros and will be financed in three annual installments.
The goal is to reduce water losses and improve current irrigation water service in all plots integrated into this sector, through the replacement of the network of canals on the other under pressure for drip irrigation management through .
The Community Irrigation Librilla, composed of 1,850 farmers, covers an area of ​​2,952 hectares.
The works in this sector affect an area of ​​500 hectares and, once finalized, may begin the other three irrigation sectors.
These actions are included in the Rural Development Programme of the Region of Murcia, which promotes and funds the transformation of traditional irrigation management and localized irrigation technology.
In the Region of Murcia has acted on more than 150,000 hectares of irrigated land, representing 87 percent of the regional irrigable area.
